The only downside is unless you have the proper equipment and resources, it’s a long way from the southern coast and will take some time for you to reach there. This also makes the island one of the safest places to explore. As the name suggests, the island is filled with only herbivorous dinosaurs which are highly tameable in the game. Herbivore Island is one of the best-starting base locations that you will find on the island in Ark Survival Evolved. However, you will have to explore other areas of the maps for different resources like metal pods, crystals, etc from here. It is surrounded by water on all sides with cliffs making it harder for different dinosaurs to enter. And not to mention, you will come across another Explorer Notes right on the platform. The plateau might make things easier for players while building their base. Players will stumble upon a nice flat plateau in the given coordinates located in the Footpaw area of the island. You will also find a hidden cave on the east side of the coast which too can make a great base. ![]() You will find most of the resources on the west and east sides of the cave. Besides the cave, you will also find an explorer note in the game. The cave has a relatively small opening on either side making it one of the best locations to survive any dinosaur species. ![]() Players will come across a naturally built cave structure which would help them set up their camp easily in the game.
